Singapore (Singapore) - Clarke Quay

SINGAPORE (Singapore)
09 November - 10 November 2018

Back in Singapore for just the night, we made the very cool discovery of Clarke Quay. An historical Quay in Singapore, recently there has been around 5 blocks of warehouses that have been converted into bars/restaurants and nightclubs. The whole area is buzzing with activity and has to be just another well constructed draw card for a city that is making its way back onto the world stage in a huge way.

In addition to the refurbished warehouses there are also quite a few Chinese junks that have had an overhaul, being converted into pubs and other various nightspots. This action by Singapore typifies smart thinking and stands a direct contrast to what Sydney has done with its night economy. I don't see Singapore introducing lockout laws, nor do I see any issues with one-punch attacks. The question and solution is twofold. The problems that culturally we have with binge drinking and previously the relatively light punishments for these sort of attacks is what brought such utterly stupid changes to Sydney's nightlife. Of course they managed to f*** that up with ill conceived ideas. The result they needed had to be one that would both support the community but not at the expense of businesses, which is what has happened.
